This year, the two-day MWGA State Championship will be held at Lake Forest Golf Course in Ann Arbor, on Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1. Juniors will only play on Sunday. Combined scores from both days will be used to determine the final result. The overall low gross winner earns a spot in the GAM Tournament of Champions, held at Eqypt Valley Country Club, in Ada, on September 27. Joan Garety was the 2003 Champion at Forest Akers West with a two-day total of 149. Jean Holbert was the Senior Champion and Jean Murray was the Super Senior Champion.

As last year, Saturday's pairings will be based on individual handicaps by flight, with lower handicap players teeing off first. Sunday's pairings will be based on Saturday's scores, with the lower scorers in each flight teeing off last. Prizes will be awarded, with gift certificates going to the top gross and net finishers in each flight. Division medalists will be acknowledged. Players will also be able to participate in the standard MWGA games (longest drive, closest to the pin, chip-ins and gross skins; see the MWGA Tournaments Guidelines for details.)

There will be three divisions, State for those age 18 to 49, Senior for those 50 and older and Junior for ages 17 and under. Number of entries permitting, each division will have multiple flights, based on handicap.

The entry fee, of $114 for members and $134 for non-members does not include a cart. Carts are available, through the course, for $14 a day. Juniors will pay $50 for their one-day event. Included in the cost are greens fees, range balls, lunch on Sunday, and awards and prizes. Tee times will start at 8:00 AM on both days. Lake Forest is located at 3110 W. Ellsworth in Ann Arbor, 48103. Practice rounds are available Monday - Friday for $20 and weekends for $30, with an additional $14 for a cart. Call 734-994-8580 and mention the MWGA State Championship, to reserve tee-times for your practice round.
