Thirty
high school girl’s golf teams representing 16 school districts recently
competed in the “4th Annual Careers Scramble Tournament” at
Hunter’s Ridge Golf Course (Howell, Michigan).
Foursomes were comprised of three high school girls and one “career”
woman. In addition to competition,
the women discussed with the girls the importance of commitment to education,
the paths and process which leads to finding a job, and the success they
currently enjoy in their careers.
School
districts participating were Imlay City, Lapeer East and West, Saginaw Heritage,
Caro, Mt. Morris, Millington, Utica Stevenson, Flushing, Howell, Fenton,
Lutheran North, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, Flint Carman-Ainsworth, St. Louis,
Ortonville-Brandon, and Birmingham Groves.
Sponsors
of the event were Michigan Women’s Golf Association and Imlay City Community
Schools. The event is supported by
Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan, Serra Chevrolet (Grand Blanc), Your
Chauffeur, Inc. as well as a grant from the Michigan High School Athletic
Association.

The “Marie Reed Memorial Trophy” for low gross score was awarded to Pontiac Notre Dame 1 playing with “career woman” Janina Jacob.
