2007 ANNUAL MEETING AND 4-WOMAN SPRING SCRAMBLE

Saturday May 12, 2007
Dunham Hills GC

Ladies, it is time to start thinking GOLF!!!  On May 12th 2007 we will be having our Annual Meeting and Spring Scramble.  This is a great time to bring friends together to hear about our great MWGA organization at the Annual Meeting, as well as play a great golf course.  I know that the weather may be iffy this time of year, but aren’t you dying to play with all the golf toys you got for Christmas (my pink golf shoes, pink golf balls, Sky Caddie, etc!).

The Annual Meeting will include lunch for everyone.  At the meeting you will hear about our 2007 MWGA activities, meet the board members, shop for bargains (see Inez’s article about the swap meet), and make plans with your friends for this year’s tournaments!  We will also be announcing the Player of the Year (POY), Golfer of the Year (GOY), and Most Improved Player for 2006.  For those who do not want to golf, lunch and the meeting will be available for $12.00 each (shopping is free).

After the meeting we will play a 4 Woman Scramble at Dunham Hills.  The golf course is hilly, but set back away from subdivisions and traffic.  This is a great time to bring some friends to play with you and experience what an MWGA tournament is all about.

The annual meeting and Spring Scramble will be $88.00 for members and non-members.  This will include the meeting, lunch, golf, cart, and range balls.  Registration will begin at 10:00am with the meeting and lunch starting at 11:00 am and golf at 1pm - shotgun start.  If you have any questions, please contact Barbara Porter at ultrablp@aol.com  or at 248-624-2835.  Look forward to seeing you all at Dunham hills in May.

Swap Meet at Annual Meeting!
Saturday May 12, 2007
Dunham Hills GC

By Inez M. Bridges

“SWAP  (swäp) v. To trade one thing for another. – tr. To exchange.”

If you’re like me, finding bargains is always a thrill.  Not to mention ridding your closets and basements of those unwanted items you’ve never (or almost never) used.  There’s that driver that wouldn’t adapt to your swing, that putter that you couldn’t see eye-to-eye with or the crock pot that just sits in the cabinet taking up space and waiting for a delicious stew.  These are some of the “cast-off” items just waiting for a new home to become useful.  Why wait until next Christmas to re-gift those items?

Here’s an idea!  Why not gather together these “cast-asides”, and bring them to the MWGA Annual Meeting on Saturday May 12th for “Swap Meet 2007”?  Someone there will surely want and need them.  Not only that, but you will probably find items that you can’t live without that you can trade for or purchase from another member.  They don’t necessarily have to be golf-related merchandise either.  All wares from A-Z are welcome, whether new or slightly used.  Just think of it as a mini “estate sale”.  If you have a craft and want to display some sale samples, there will be space for you, also.

We’ll set up tables where members can display their wares for barter or purchase.  Make your own price signs or cards that include your name for a prospect to barter for or buy.  The manner in which you conduct your merchandising is strictly up to you.  The meeting agenda begins at 11 a.m., so please plan to arrive earlier to set up your items for sales prior to the meeting, during lunch and after golf.  To put a meaningful twist to this event, we are asking that sellers donate 10% of sales to our 2007 fundraising efforts for the Rhonda Walker Foundation, our charity of choice. This season, we will conduct a girls golf program for Rhonda’s girls at the First Tee of Michigan facilities on Belle Isle.

The more of us participating in the swap event, the better the odds of finding something you want.  So, start talking it up the now and collecting your “white-elephant” items for a fun-filled opening day on Sat. May 12th.  With everyone’s help, it will be fun, profitable for you and our fundraising efforts.  For planning purposes, please let me know if you would like to participate in this event or if you have questions or suggestions.  Contact me, Inez Bridges at 248-890-4461 or email me at imbridges@aol.com.  Thanks in advance, and we’ll all reunite on Saturday May 12th.
